The group‎ was established in 1935 as a construction company and landmark projects in Malaysia include both the iconic Merdeka Stadium for the country's independence declaration as well as Stadium Negara, Malaysia’s first indoor stadium, the Klang Gates Dam, our country’s first dam, the irrigation scheme in Sungei Mudah, Kedah, and The Lady Templar's Hospital. The Group diversified into‎ property development in the 1960s and landmark projects include part of Kuala Lumpur's bustling food street, Jalan Alor, and the pioneering stages of Kuala Lumpur's first urban township development, Bandaraya Development in Bangsar. The Group's significant projects in Singapore include the development of Singapore's first Urban Renewal Project, People's Park Complex; and Singapore's first large scale up-market residential development, Sommerville Park sprawling over approximately 25 acres of prime land.

Through the years, the Group also dabbled in various industries. Some notable involvements were the inception of a handful of public listed companies in Malaysia, such as Bridgestone Tyres, the first tyre plant in the country, Pan Malaysian cement, one of the first cement plants in the country, and Gula Perak, the second sugar refinery in the country. The group was also involved in setting up one of the earliest palm oil refineries in Malaysia, Senawang Edible Oil.

The Group's heritage and flagship company, Dolomite Corporation Bhd, operates one of the country's largest quarries. In 2003, it was listed on the main board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange. Today, Dolomite continues to operate its traditional quarry and premix businesses, as well as expanding and developing its landbank through large scale housing and commercial projects. It also diversified into power generation through the construction of an electrical and thermal power plant in China.

The LQS Group expanded into media in 1985 under the Vision Media Group, and today houses media interests which span the entire content spectrum from content creation to production, production facilities, dubbing, distribution and entertainment licensing. Through the strategic relationships it has developed since its inception, the group distributes television programming for major studios such as Warner Bros, Fox and Paramount throughout the Asian region, with a footprint of 13 countries from Korea to India. Notable titles from Double Vision, its award-winning production house, include past hits such as the iconic TV Series "Kopitiam", the international Emmy-nominated drama series "A Time for Us", the Malaysian box office hit "Ah Long Pte Ltd" and the first international-scale Malaysian TV production project, "Masterchef Malaysia".
